Hi,
Poor Lily is sick these days as well. Fever (worse at night) and a streaming nose. HOpefully its just a cold and will pass quickly. Any of the previously mentioned places will do nicely. I don't think I'll make gb tomorrow as I don't want to infect any of the healthy babas!
Baby shower was good craic. I won a prize for guessing most accurately the size of the bump. I was then not allowed to enter any more contests but 'helped' my friend win another contest. All that pregnancy experience has finally come in handy!
have a good time tomorrow!

Hi Everyone, soryy we couldn't make sunday, Laura slept right thru until 5pm and seem to be completely over her cold,(at long last!) But of course Harry has the sniffles now! We have been like a walking hospital for the past two weeks! Mel, Harry didn't pass his hearing test either, if thats any consolation! He has to go back at the end of the month to have it rechecked. It gave me an awful shock that he might have a problem. Congrats on the walking! Lily is certainly well ahead of Harry who isn't even on all fours yet!
You can count me in for the 4th , I'd love a childless night out! Would love to get to Gymboree, but we are off to Dublin to see the Godmothers for the weekend so we'll have to give that a miss. Hope to make it across for coffee tomorrow,if its on.
Nano hopefully this marks my return to the site!! |

Hi all,
Fiona thanks for Sunday and organising it. Donal particularly enjoyed it. To meet all those cyber women and to see his little daughter playing with other kids. You can count me in for dec 4th Michelle and also on Fri Jette might come with her baby, Miguel. I'm also on for tomorrow if there are others coming?
And also hope all those sick babies get well soon.
Talk soon,

Hi there
Sounds like lots of babies and mammies in the wars!! And I thought we were doing so well. Kieran slept on Monday night from 1.30am to 8.30am - boy was I happy. Then last night Sinead started playing up around 12. He went to sleep at 1. She was up from 1am to 4am. All back to sleep and then he was awake again at 5am. Poor little mite had a boob shoved in his mouth and we both fell asleep. So a very tired mammy here! Teeth seem to be the problem with madam. Keeps pointing into her mouth. One of those back teeth has appeared but she won't let me near her to check. So after all that definetly count me in for the night out. Hope to make Gymboree on Friday - pending sleep situation. Will take tomorrow as it comes - will log in tomorrow morning to see if there are many coming.
talk later H |

God love ye all with the sleepless nights! I am blessed (well for the last 4 nights) LAuren has slept through. She usually wakes once and we lift her into the spare bed and one of us sleeps with her there. But hopefully she is turning a new leaf! She has 4 back teeth I noticed last week, so we are now up on 12 teeth!!! At work today so won't be at GB. See some of ye for Gymboree tomorrow. Fiona

| I was just wondering if the Gymboree thing would be suitable for an 11 month old. I had decided to take my DD (taken day off work etc.) but was talking to my childminder yesterday who said it was more geared towards older children. Has anyone been to one of these before? |

Oh dear, I feel like a leper.I saw in toddler mums that Lily was unwell and now I see there are so many babies sick.I really, really hope my small boy wasn't the cause of it with his runny nose on Sunday. We really shouldn't have gone, and didn't belong ,but our outings are so limited we jumped at the opportunity. He was very sick the previous weekend , we went off for a weekend in Westport and I spent it in the room with him, he had a raging temp and was delirious at night. However by Wednesday he was fine apart from the sniffles. But now he has a terrible cough and started on antibiotics today. It is really doing the rounds up here, so i hope we didn't introduce it to Galway. I hope they will all be well soon and you will all be able to sleep again.Keep the paralink handy. And while I am at the health warnings, Belly no.2 --there is chickenpox about your hometown-stay away! |

cw,
Don't be silly! There are plenty of sick babies down here in Galway- I don't think your son is single handedly responsible for all of them! Glad to hear that he is on the mend though. It was lovely to see you all last week.
To early to think of anything else to write.

Hi Girls, Count me in for Thurs 8pm.
CW -Conor had the sniffles as well at the weekend so maybe we shouldn't have been there!! - he had started his antibiotic on the Thurs but was much better by the weekend but still coughs in the morning. All the children at the childminders have had it over the last week or two. Hubby was sniffling last night so hopefully he is not getting it now. I think so many children/babies have it, its really hard to escape. Thankfully Conor didn't have a temperature. Heard another girl at work saying her little boy has it, but doc would not give an antibiotic as it was a viral infection and she just has him on calpol. Hope your boy is feeling better and that the rest of you escape it.
Melb - hopefully Lily is better soon and I hope Conor didn't give him any of his germs.
Bellyno2 - Re. books. Conor has a few of the Pooh Learn & Grow Series and he really likes them - that is when we can get him to sit still long enough. They have things like plastic shapes on a bar at the top of the book and he can twirl them around. We got them in Dublin, but I'm sure they're in the shops here.
Hope you all enjoy the gymboree today. Olive

Hi there
Olive - Sinead is mad about books - the last day or two it is the new baby book that someone bought when Kieran arrived. She is also mad about the Smyths and Toycity catalogues - so glad she isn't old enough to understand the concept of wanting the stuff!! CW - like Mel said every child seems to be sick at the moment. And touch wood we are getting away with it. I daren't go home at the moment - my sister's kids are dosed with everything going so will be avoid them. Hope it all disappears for Christmas. Hope to see you all again at the next gig we arrange. Gymboree was quite good today - Mammies got to do more performing than the little ones - suppose that will change over time. MMG/Roisin/Fiona - I only took details on the Claregalway class but that clashes with the Thursday meet in GB. What other times are they running? I can't remember.

Hi All
Just a quick hello, up to my tonsils here already. V. busy work week ahead.
Hope all the sick babas are recovering. Ava is also in the wars, has had interrupted sleep for about a week now - due to teeth I think, but has something else igling her last night and was awake half the night. I think it was a tummy ache as it culminated in a big messy nappy in the middle of the night.
Gymboree was enjoyable. I think our guys were a little too young to get the full benefit, I would reckon it is more suited to 2+ agegroup. But still it wouldn't stop me going again on an ad hoc basis. Helen, classes that I know of are 10 on Fridays in Knocknacarra church, or 11:15 on Saturdays in Devon Pk medical centre, I'm sure there are others too.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursdays. I need to confirm numbers in the next day or two. Is 10 still about right?
Cheers

Hi ladies, have not posted for a while, still fighting with Max's colicks. Poor little one cryies alot and wants to be held and soothed and even now I'm typing with one hand only. Glad to hear you had a good time at Gymborree classes, I did not even think of them for us as we wont be able to contribute anything than loud roaring for good few months ahead. But its definitely one of things to look forward to. Have been weighted by the doc and she told we're gaining 10oz every week with usual limits 4-8oz! So she asked if I would consider stretching feeding times. I'm a bit confused as the whole idea of demand-led breastfeeding is to feed when he is hungry and if I'm trying to stretch even a little bit he cryes and its heartbreaking. I also think breastfed babies' growth is less stable than of bottlefed one's so may be he is going through growth spurt or something and will gain less in next weeks. Had anyone had anything like that? Thanks, Anna |

Curious Cat - I'm definitely thinking of designing a T-shirt that says "I lived through colic and survived"!. As the other mammys will know (from my boring groans) GS also went thorugh it for nearly 6 long months. Good news is it gets better. I also b/fed her
First Question: How often are you feeding Max? I used to feed GS every 3 hrs but I found at night that the only way I could get her to stop crying (when the colic kicked in) was to feed her constantly so from 7 p.m. to midnight she was attached like velcro.
The good thing was that she was probably so stuffed full that she slept through the night. (well till at least 6 a.m.)
Second Question: does he sleep the night? Thats a good indication of whether he is hungry the whole time or not.
Third Question: have you tried any of the suggested remedies for colic, I tried most of them but only one i found helped was colief drops which I put on her tongue (it says to put in a bottle but the tongue is fine when you're b/feeding)
Fourth questions: have you tried a dummy to see will that give him some relief
What age is little Max now ?
What time of the day / night does he cry?
Make sure to take time out for yourself, go for a walk, visit some friends without him, you need all your energy to survive this. If its any consulation I look down at my little one who shakes her bum when she hears music or toddles really fast to run away from her mammy at nappy changing time and I wonder how could she have been such a terror! |

Mammy, Thanks for your post, it gives some hope! However 6 months - my god, I thought it will be something more like 6 weeks :( A good thing is "our night", e.g. worst cry and constant feeding, starts at 5pm and lasts till up to midnight. After that he is stuffed and exausted enough to dose off and we are getting rather decent night - 2-3 feedings only and he is quiet. Remedies - the midwife said he is too young for anything, so I have not tried anything except my moms recipe which is tea from dill - it definitely has some positive effect cause poor Max screams less. He also got a bit of rash on his face adn we thought its from dill so stopped it, but GP said its just heat rash and nothing to worry. Restarting dill again cause he is bad without it. However now as he is a month (actually even 5 weeks!) I can try colief finally, hope it will have some effect. I did not try dummy, the idea was to always seek the reason behind the cry instead of making him quiet with dummy. However now as I know the reason and cant help much I may give up on this idea. Thanks Anna |

Hi all,
Thursday night is shaping up well! Any sign of Becs coming?
For those who were at busybees but not able to make the mommies night (Cw, Cat) can you email your adress to me so I can send on the photos I took that day. mmphoto@esatclear,ie
cat, good luck with the colic. Lily (thankfully) never suffered with that although she has made up for it in many other ways! She always took a dummy since the midwives in the hospital gave her one. I cant imagine what she would have been like without it as she is a very sucky baby. The only downside (and its a pretty big one) is that when it falls out while she is sleeping she wakes.
Gotta go baby clinging onto my pjs and giving out to me!

| Well, made it back from D'gal in one piece, thank God. It was so stressful being at home with a sick baby. She cried all the time and was so clingy and up for long times during the night. She's a lot better now and is sleeping again, and eating, so normality is being restored. I'm so looking forward to Thursday night, need adult company for a while! Gotta go now and get stuff done while she's asleep. lots of love Irene. xx |

Hi All
I will confirm for 10 people for tomorrow night so. I think that leaves one free space if we have any changes of heart. looking forward to it. See you in the restuarant ( Pierre Victoire's at 8pm)
Curious_Cat it sounds like you are having a rough time of it. Believe me I can remember that stage and I was like a zombie. It does get a lot easier. For me it was at around the 7-8 week mark when she started to settle. ( Up to that I didn't get a wink's sleep ) I thought Ava was colicy for a while and used to give her Infacol drops before a feed which I thought helped. But in retrospect it was probably just wind and not real colic like GS suffered. I hope things get easier for you soon.
Mel, Becs is away in the UK if I remember correctly. I don't think she returns until next week.
See you all tomorrow.

Hi all
Emer also has snuffles and low grade temperature. So I hope all babies will be well for Xmas.
I have also hurt my back so I'm going to try my very best to be there tomorrow night but there's a possibility I might not make it. If I don't I might go mad cos I'm sick think of this apartment and just Emer for company. Donal is also working all hours. By the way do any of you know a good physio?
Anna, hope you're surviving. My sister is going though the same at the moment - new born babies are tough. But hopefully you're nearly through the rough part and the colic will settle.
Michelle hope the presentation went well and you can relax a little till XMAS.
Hopefully see ye all tomorrow night.
Love Roisin. |

Hello,
Malo, I have used (and refered several people to) Micheal Nevin for physio. He's extremely kind, reasonable and good. Don't havr the number on me but he is on emmerson ave. in salthill. Hope to see you tomorrow night.
Aid, welcome! We meet on Thursdays in the residents bar of the Galway Bay hotel around 3pm. fIts a good idea to check the board beforehand as some thursdays can have a better turnout than others. If you feel like diving into the deep end- we are having a mammie's night out tomorrow night (Thursday) at 8pm in Pierre Victoire's. Look forward to meeting you and yours!

Hi girls, Had a great night out at dogs on Fri. with work, dinner & dogs!! Great fun and I actually won a few bob. Conor had his first haircut, well not quite a haircut more a fringe cut. I've been threatening to do it for weeks as it was going into his eyes, so he looks even more boyish now! & I kept the two locks.
Aido - welcome to the board - nice to see some new names. You should meet up with others when you're off work (I don't get to do much now I'm at work fulltime) - pity you just missed the Christmas party at busybee - great time. Cat - I also thought for a while that Conor may have colic, but think it was lack of sleep during the day and then he would get very cross in the evenings - they say all babies have an off time and it is usually during the evenings. He would nod off on the boob and then would wake as soon as I'd put him in the moses basket. I gave him the soother after 6wks to try and help him sleep during the day & I found to rock him in the pram in the evening helped when he was roaring! The rocking motion would help soothe him. Hope things improve. See you all tomorrow night at 8. Olive
